Inspector General, 6th Military District
July 2000 - Recruitment begins for a SVR unit in California.
January 2001 - Company G, 1st California Infantry, SVR is chartered.
1st Sgt. Charles “Corky” Reed is the commanding NCO.
August 2001 - Company C, 8th California Infantry, SVR is chartered. 1st Sgt. David Schleeter in command.
November 16, 2001 - Brig. Gen. David Medert, commander of the Sons of Veterans Reserve issues General Order 2001-7 reactivating the 6th Military District of the SVR consisting of the states of Arizona, California, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington. Charles Reed is appointed as commander of the 6th and promoted to the rank of Captain. Reed is later promoted to Major.
September 2002 - Major Reed resigns as military district commander.
Adjutant Mark Wilson becomes acting-commander but resigns 11 days later.
December 2002 - Capt. David Allen appoints staff as 6th District Commander.
Allen is promoted to Major and later to Lieutenant Colonel.
September 2005 - The Western Dispatch, the official newsletter of the 6th Military District is published.
Lt. Will Tisch is the editor Public Information Officer.
2012 - Will Tisch appointed commander of the 6th Military District and promoted to Major.
November 2013 - Maj. General Robert Grimm, Commanding Officer of the SVR,
awards Unit Citation to Battery A, 3rd U.S. Artillery, SVR.
2014 - Major Joseph Marti appointed commander of the 6th Military District.
November 2017 - Maj. Gen. Robert Grimm, Commanding Officer of the SVR awards Unit Citation
to Company B, 71st Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, SVR.
2018 - Major Steve Betschart appointed commander of the 6th Military District.
2020 - Major Betschart passes away. Capt. Wayne Eder becomes acting commander.
Eder is appointed commander of the 6th Military District and promoted to major.
November 2025 - Brig. Gen. Donald Darby, Commanding Officer of the SVR, awards Unit Citation to
Company B, 71st Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. This is the second unit citation awarded to Company B.
January 2026 - The 6th Military District surpasses 250 personnel.
A number of promotions are pending approval by the National Command Staff.
